WelfareMax is a group of animal welfare experts and veterinarians who believe that where animals are being kept and cared for, then it is possible to

We focus on creative solutions for animal welfare issues. Since 2000, we’ve had success with projects aimed at improving animal welfare. We strive for innovation and use of best practice methods, and work carefully to maximise animal welfare potential while providing you with practical solutions.
What do we do?
Welfare Assessments
We can carry out welfare assessments of your farming or other animal systems and write you reports on our assessments. We use scientific and animal behaviour observation methods to make animal welfare assessments - and to create assessment reports for you. These reports have proven to be powerful tools in understanding and maximising animal welfare. We can work with you to use assessment report findings to maximise the welfare of the animals you look after.
Workshops
We work with your staff to maximise their animal welfare capabilities.
We hold workshops where we drill down into the animal care and welfare aspects of your work, and help your staff to identify ways to 'do it right'. Where possible, the workshops include practical sessions on the farm, or in the field.
Staff receive a WelfareMax CPD workshop attendance certificate, and will be expected to keep up to date with animal welfare information in their sector to maintain their certification.
Standards,
KWIs (Key Welfare Indicators)
We have been involved in writing animal care and welfare standards for many years. We can work with you to incorporate animal welfare maximisation and Key Welfare Indicators (KWIs) into you existing standards, or we can write free standing animal welfare focussed standards for your business. We base the standards on best practice, and also work with you to identify aspirational animal care and welfare areas for your business to work towards.
Manuals
You may have manuals, SOPs and working checklists which help to guide your staff about day to day animal management and care. We can work with you to optimise the animal welfare focus of your animal care manuals, or to write free standing animal welfare manuals and SOPS for you.

Facilitation
We can work with you to facilitate meetings where animals welfare issues need to be discussed. We have done this for organisations around the world.
Points of difference
We can help you to maintain the 'points of difference' which make you stand out from others in your levels of animal care and animal welfare. We can help you to have knowledgeable and informed staff, and best practice processes and procedures to make sure you lead in the area of animal welfare.

Animal Welfare Courses
We run training courses in animal welfare and animal welfare assessment for a wide range of farmed, managed, and wild species. We can work with you to identify what your staff and business requires, and provide training to make sure you lead in the area of animal welfare. Staff receive a WelfareMax CPD attendance certificate, and will be expected to keep up to date with animal welfare information in their sector to maintain their certification.

Welfare Quality Training
We can train your staff in the Welfare Quality assessment system. We are approved trainers and examiners, and members of the Welfare Quality network. We can connect you with trainers for broiler chicken, laying hens, pigs and cattle.
Consultancy, Resources
We carry out consultancy in animal welfare - connecting you with people with specific expertise. This is always a joint effort - we find out what the animal welfare issues are that you are dealing with, and work with you to find answers, solutions and resources.
